New Bobbles by Idle Hands

True story: I have given myself a black eye by smacking myself in the face with a heavy earring.

I played the Whiskey Wilmington with my band every Tuesday for two years. My last Tuesday at the Whiskey was something I had been looking forward to for a long time. Actually, I was dreading it because I never wanted to stop playing there (sad faces) but I knew in terms of Tuesdays, it would be a big one. My mom, one of the most fashionable women I know, and I had talked outfits for nearly a week before the day came and I decided on something plain and black but I would absolutely dress it up with HUGE sparkly half moon earrings. They hurt my ears, they were neck length and I loved them.

The show came, the people were wonderful and as I was getting into it (those of you who have seen me get the idea) I went to swing my head around and THWACK! I hit myself right in the eye. My adrenaline was really going so I didn’t know how bad it actually was– but the following morning I had nice ole’ shiner to remember the night by.

I’m guessing Jessie Anne Phelps was in the audience and saw the whole thing happen because a few months later she wrote me and asked if she could send me a pair of handmade earrings! They are long, they are dramatic, I can swing my head around as hard as I want to and my eyes and face (and close company) are safe!

They almost match my hair! Now I can say, “Oh my hair color? It’s bird feather color, you know.”

And say you’re caught going through your roommate’s underwear drawer? Quick disguise!!

I’m a big fan of Miss Phelp’s recycled metal work as well. So, if you’re tired of letting your jewelry get the best of you visit her SITE!

And she’s on Etsy!
